Matt Resch knew this was going to be a tough game against Wittenberg on Tuesday night.

“Wittenberg is a quality team with some good wins so far this year,” said the Pacelli boys basketball coach.

The game was a back and forth battle for the first half, but Resch credited his teams’ strong defense for giving them the edge as they headed for the locker room at half time with a two-point lead, 22-20.

The second half was full of excitement as Pacelli outscored Wittenberg 42-31.

“We really started to impose our will on the defensive end in the second half,” coach said.

The crowd erupted when Garret Parks charged down the floor and scored with a commanding dunk that took the life out of Wittenberg towards the end of the game. Pacelli showed great depth in their offense, with three players in double digits: Andrew Blenker had 15 points, AJ Ferminhac scored 14 and Cameron Cloud brought in 11 points. Garret Parks added nine points to the mix.

Pacelli was strong at the free throw line as well, going 25-31 as a team throughout the game. The Cardinals finished the game at a score of 64-51.

Pacelli returns to action again at home on Tuesday, Dec. 20 vs. Shiocton.
