Edwin R. Colby
Edwin R. Colby, 84, town of Saratoga in Wood County, father
of a Plover man, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Atrium Post Acute Care in
Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at
Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa, with the Rev. Douglas Schalow officiating.
Burial will be in Easton Cemetery in Adams County.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday
until the service.

Mr. Colby was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Grand Marsh, a son of
the late George and Louise (Engnath) Colby.
He was married to Joyce Bandt May 17, 1952, in Adams. She
died Sept. 23, 1992.
He was employed in the Finishing Room/Tool Room at Nekoosa
Papers Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1993.
Following retirement, he did seasonal work on local marshes
and farms.
In earlier years, he raced stock cars where he was
recognized as a “shade tree mechanic.” He umpired and refereed for many
sporting events. He was Santa’s helper for more than 20 years.
Survivors include three children, David (Jean) Colby,
Plover, Judy (Leah Billmeyer) Colby, Wisconsin Rapids, and Scott (Sally Du
Bois) Colby, Port Edwards; one sister, Lou Ann Schaetzka, Oxford; nine
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Louise Jensen,
Spokane, Wash.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson and 10
brothers and sisters.
