Lillian F. Sliva, 87, of Nekoosa, formerly of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1929, in Milwaukee, to Stevens Point natives Edwin and Frances (Meronk) Pehoski, and was a 1947 graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. On Aug. 8, 1950, she was married to Frank “Fritz” Sliva at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Fritz died on Sep. 21, 1984.

Lillian and her husband owned and operated the Terrace Gardens night club in Wisconsin Rapids in the 1960s and she had also worked in medical records at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point for 30 years before retiring in 1979.

She was a special mom, grandma and great-grandma and loved her family so much, especially spending time with her great-grandchildren. Her interests included knitting and crocheting – making items for the Senior Craft Shoppe and nursing homes in Wisconsin Rapids, and she loved dogs. She had enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and England a number of times. She and Fritz had bartended for the Daytona 500 back in the 1970s, having met many drivers during those times.

Survivors include her daughter, LaDon (Pete) Jacoby of Nekoosa; grandson, Peter (Jean) Jacoby II of Stevens Point; great-grandchildren, Peter III and Amelia Jacoby; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Pehoski.

Lillian’s family greatly thanks the staff at the Aspirus Riverview Wound Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids, Dr. Okon and the Palliative Care staff at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, and Chaplain Fahey for their excellent and loving care.

A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at the New Rome Cemetery on Lake Petenwell in the Adams County town of Rome. Pisarski Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Plover is honored to be assisting the family. For online condolences, please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
