Charles R. Witzel, 70, Plover, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Plover, with the Deacon Vern Linzmeier officiating. Burial will be in the Plover Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the services.

Mr. Witzel was born June 26, 1946, in Osceola, a son of the
late Alfred and Florence (McCourt) Witzel. He attended school in Osceola and
graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with degrees in English
and sociology.

He was married to Cynthia Hesso May 6, 1972, at St. Vincent de
Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids.

After the marriage, the couple settled in the Plover area.

He worked for the state of Wisconsin as a licensing specialist,
specializing in day care and group home licensing until his retirement in 2002.

He was a lector at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover for
many years.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia, Plover; one daughter,
Corrine (Daniel) Rohmeyer, Plover; and two grandsons.
