NEW: City’s Head of Public Works Resigns
By Brandi Makuski
City officials have confirmed the Stevens Point Director of Public Works has resigned.
Scott Schatschneider, who is a native of southern Wisconsin, had been head of the department for more than four years. He said he accepted a job offer in the private sector and plans to stay in the community.
“My family loves this community,” Schatschneider said by phone on Friday.
Mayor Mike Wiza said he was “sad” to see Schatschneider go, but declined comment when asked if he knew the resignation was a possibility.
“Scott has served the city in a dedicated way for over four years, but I understand he has to do what’s best for him and his family,” Wiza said by phone.
Schatschneider handed in his resignation on Tuesday. Wiza said the city was “in the process” of posting a job opening for the position, and might consider an interim dept. head after the holidays.
