Theresa A. Baran, 85, Santa Barbara, Calif., sister of a
Hancock woman, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Buena Vista Care Center in
Santa Barbara, Calif., following a short illness after suffering a stroke just
before Thanksgiving.


A Funeral Mass was held at St. Raphael Church in Santa
Barbara Friday, Jan. 13. Interment was at Goleta Cemetery in Santa Barbara,
Calif.


Visitation was at the Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Home in
Santa Barbara Thursday, Jan. 13.


Mrs. Baran was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Wisconsin, a daughter
of the late Andrew and Margaret Risch. She graduated from high school and
started working in Racine.


She was married to Stanley M. Baran Jr. June 27, 1953.


She moved with her family in August 1973 as part of the
General Motors transition of AC Spark Plug/Delco Electronics from Oak Creek to
Goleta, Calif., where she stayed for the next 43 years.


She worked briefly for a few companies in the Santa Barbara
area.


She was a member of St. Raphael Parish, spending many hours
as part of the “prayer chain” for parishioners who were ill.


Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Stanley Baran;
one sister, Mary Foster, Hancock; one brother, Edward (Carole) Risch; one son,
Michael (Deborah) Baran; two daughters, Rosanne Boettiger and Lara Baran; eight
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


She was also preceded in death by one infant son; and one
brother, Lawrence Risch.
