Martin Luther King Day Committee will hold concert Jan. 16
To the Editor:
The Community Martin Luther King Jr. Day Committee invites all to join us at the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. This event is sponsored by local donations from individuals and organizations.
This year our speaker is Stuart Stotts, an award-winning singer, author and storyteller. He has written numerous books including “We Shall Overcome: A Song That Changed the World” and “Father Groppi: Civil Rights Leader.”
These two books have been donated to all junior and senior high schools, and public libraries in Portage County. The title of his address is “Singing for Our Lives: The Role of Music in Civil Rights Work.” In addition to Stotts, the Pacelli Concert Choir will also perform.
