SPASH Hockey Thrills in OT

SPASH boys varsity hockey skated away with a thrilling overtime win against University School of Milwaukee at the SPASH Boys Varsity Invite in non-conference play on Fridayat K.B. Willet Arena.
SPASH’s Cole Caufield scored his first unassisted of three goals on a power play with 15:54 into the first period. USM Wildcats committed 5 penalties in first period. SPASH was up 1-0 and end of first period.
USM answered back only four minutes into the second period, and added insult to injury by scoring again at the 11:50 mark. SPASH committed four penalties in the second period, compared to USM’s two penalties. Wildcats left the ice with the lead at 2-1 at the end of the second period.
The Wildcats held the lead until 11:37 elapsed in the third period, when junior standout Cole Caufield scored his second unassisted goal to tie the game at 2-2. The match ran into overtime, and Caufield needed only 27 seconds to race down the ice and score the winning goal.
Goalie Phil Trzebiatowski is credited with 12 saves.
