Local company upgrades United Way offices

The offices at United Way of Portage County have a brand new look thanks to a donation from a local company.

Recycled Office Environments (ROE), a Stevens Point company, donated and installed all new office furniture at United Way’s 10-person office space at 1100 Centerpoint Drive, Stevens Point, after ROE’s chief executive officer, Jeff Budelier, decided an upgrade was needed.

“I visited the offices to give a recommendation about spacing issues they were having and saw that the furniture they had wasn’t the best for maximizing their limited amount of space,” said Budelier, whose company has been a long-time supporter of United Way.

“Because another supporter of United Way – Skyward, Inc. – had recently purchased all of their office furniture for their new building from local sources, including ROE and our services company (Resource One Installation and Services), I decided I wanted to give back to the community by refurnishing the United Way office.”

After meeting with United Way staff to determine their needs, ROE developed a plan that included the installation of new desks, counters, filing cabinets, and hanging cabinets in each staff member’s office. Standing office stations were installed so staff members could work on their computers while standing up. A cubicle area was also set-up for part-time staffers and interns.

“My new office is incredible,” said Shelly Hanson, United Way finance director. “The upgrade allows me to work much more efficiently and to keep all the records I have stored near me where I can quickly find them.”

“We are extremely grateful for this donation,” said Sue Wilcox, United Way executive director. “The generosity of this community continues to amaze me, even after 27 years here. For ROE to make this donation, because Skyward bought locally from them, shows local businesses care about each other.”

United Way of Portage County will honor Budelier and ROE at its Recognition Luncheon at noon Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Holiday Inn & Convention Center in Stevens Point.
