James J. Rogers
James John Rogers, 75, Custer, a retired Stevens Point police officer, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, in his home while under the care of Ministry Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish in Fancher, with the Rev. Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Shuda Plover Funeral Home in Plover from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, and at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Rogers was born May 21, 1941, in Marshfield, a son of the
late John and Helen (Stangle) Rogers. As a child the family moved to Wisconsin
Rapids, and he graduated from Assumption High School in1960.
He was married to Jacqueline Ann “Jackie” Bodette July 30,
1960. She died Dec. 21, 2001.
The couple moved to Stevens Point in 1967 when he began his
career with the Stevens Point Police Department. He retired May 31, 1991.
Survivors include six children, Lori (Thomas) Jakusz, Kathi
(Alan) Chojnacki and Shana (Jeff) Kizewski, all of Stevens Point, James
(Melissa) Rogers, Palm Bay, Fla., Staci (Kris) Suchoski, Amherst, and Lisa
(Doug) Olig, Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
