Kathryn L. Stanchik, 81, Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Jan.
17, 2017, at the Portage County Health Care Center.


A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at
St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam officiating.
Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.


Visitation will be at the Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens
Point from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, and in the St. Faustina Room of the church
from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the Mass. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home.


A memorial in her name will be established at a later date.

Mrs. Stanchik was born May 30, 1935, in Metropolis, Ill., a daughter
of the late Leland and Carrie (Kuhlman) Henderson.


She served as a private first class with the U.S. Marine
Corps, entering Aug. 4, 1955, in Louisville, Ky., and serving toward the end of
the Korean War. She was honorably discharged Nov. 8, 1956, in San Diego, Calif.


While serving the Marines, she was married to Clarence
“Kenny” Stanchik Oct. 28, 1956, in Yuma, Ariz.


After the marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point.


She worked at Kmart for more than 30 years until her
retirement in 2000.


Survivors include her husband, Kenny; one son, Todd (Denise)
Stanchik; three daughters, Tami (Bruce) Moss, Teri (Jesse) Karbowski and Traci
(Clay) Preusser; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas; three brothers,
Bill, Jim and Lon; and one sister, Karolyn.
