Lester G. Rivers, 85, Plainfield, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, in the Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. Monday until the services.

Mr. Rivers was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Milwaukee, a son of the
late Erwin and Anita (Koeske) Rivers.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1957.

He was married to Mary D. Clendenning Sept. 8, 1956, in
Milwaukee.

He worked for the American Can Company for 33 years.

He later moved to Plainfield in retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary, Plainfield; two
sons, Keith (Corie) and Craig (Cassandra); two sisters, Elaine Young and Joan
Gratton; one brother, John (Alice) Rivers; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Young,
Dottie Jacobs and Marilyn Forrest; and two brothers, Robert and James.
