Plover PD Swears in Two New Officers

By Brandi Makuksi
The Village of Plover has two new faces on its police force.
Officers Blake Hansen and Kelly Carolfi were sworn in as new members of the PPD on Jan. 16 before a packed board room at the village municipal building. They were sworn in twice, in fact, by Chief Dan Ault — once using the official officer’s oath; and again using an oath of honor.
Hansen, 28, comes to Plover from the Stevens Point Police Dept., where he was an officer for almost six years.
Carolfi, 20, is native of Marshfield who recently graduated from Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids.
The two replace Officer Andrew Hopfsenperger, who recently left the department for undisclosed reasons, and Office Perry Alm, who retired this week after serving the community for 29 years.
Several members of the Plover Police Dept. and Village Board were present, along with most of the village staff, law enforcement from Stevens Point and Portage Co., and other local residents.
“From a village standpoint it’s very important that we work as a team,” said Plover Administrator Dan Mahoney. “I look forward to working with you both; I think there’s a lot of pride in the police department; the entire village; the board. We appreciate you chose the village.”
