Northern Gateway Chorus to Hold Super Sing

For the City Times
Nearly 100 high school students from central Wisconsin are scheduled to participate in Super Sing on Jan. 28 at Pacelli High School.
The one-day music festival will introduce students to a capella music in the four-part Barbershop harmony style.
The event begins at 9 AM, concluding with a show at 4 PM featuring what the students have learned, as well as performances by the sponsoring choruses – The Northern Gateway Chorus of the Stevens Point Barbershoppers and The Center Point Chorus of the Sweet Adelines – and the participating quartets.
The afternoon show is open to the public and all are invited.
During the day, the students will be divided into two groups: the boys will be taught two songs by Kevin Morrissey and his quartet One Minute To Midnight; and the girls being taught two other songs by Kathleen Harris.
“With the popularity of such films as Pitch Perfect and TV shows like The Voice,” said Ron Odejewski, who organized the event. “It’s only natural that our local a capella Barbershop choruses and quartets should offer this opportunity to our youth.”
Pacelli is located at 1301 Maria Drive.
