Students study for finals in the north commons of Stevens Point Area Senior High on Thursday — the only full day of school all week.
On Monday, students were released early because of dangerous roadway conditions after sleet and freezing rain fell across the area.
Shortly before 9 PM on Monday, the district announced it had called off classes for Tuesday, citing icy roads that were dangerous for buses.
Shortly after 10 PM on Tuesday, the district announced classes were cancelled for Wednesday, saying, “75 percent of bus routes were not safe for travel,” even though temps were in the high 30’s that day.
Students had no classes Friday, which was a scheduled Teacher Work Day, and there is also no school on Monday, Jan. 23, which is an Institute Day.
