Annual ‘Bowling for Vets’ Open to Public
For the City Times
Berens-Scribner American Legion Auxiliary Unit 6 is hosting the 10th Annual Dave Manske Bowling For Veterans on Jan. 28.
The fundraising event will be held at Point Bowl, 252 Dixon Street.
Two shifts of bowling will be held, at 11 AM and 2 PM. The cost is $15 per adult bowlers and $10 for kids 12 and under. The cost includes two games of colored pin bowling and shoes.
Bowlers are encouraged to get pledges to support the cause; bowlers with $25 or more in pledges can bowl for free. Door prizes and raffles will also be available.
The proceeds from this event go into the Veterans Assistance Fund.
Teams and single bowlers are welcome. Registration and additional information is available at www.americanlegionauxiliaryunit6.com, or by calling Lorrie Barber at (715) 343-1947.
This event was started by the late Lou Lacroix to raise funds for local veterans in need of some financial assistance. Lacroix was commander of American Legion Post 6 at the time, and chose the bowling venue as a memorial to Legionnaire Dave Manske who was an avid bowler and who had given much of his time in support of veterans.
