UWSP men’s basketball set to host 21st-ranked Whitewater Wednesday
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) men’s
basketball team will continue a tough stretch that includes six ranked
opponents in eight games, when it plays 25th-ranked UW-Eau Claire and
21st-ranked UW-Whitewater in the next week.
Following a 67-51 loss at home to fourth-ranked UW-River
Falls (19-1, 9-0) Saturday, Jan. 28, the Pointers (10-9, 4-5) went on the road
and pulled out a 69-68 win at UW-Oshkosh (12-7, 5-3) Wednesday, Feb. 1.
Up next, UWSP will travel to play at Eau Claire (15-5, 5-4) at
5 p.m. Saturday, and then host Whitewater (17-3, 6-3) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.
“Year in and year out, we believe it’s the toughest league
in the country,” said UWSP men’s basketball interim head coach Kent Dernbach.
“This year it just happens that there’s no weak team out there.”
