Martine Luther King Jr. Day events rescheduled for Feb. 27
To the Editor:
Due to icy weather in January on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the community celebration has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH). The event is sponsored by local donations from individuals and organizations.
This year, our speaker will be Stuart Stotts, an award-winning singer, author and storyteller. He has written numerous books including “We Shall Overcome: A Song That Changed the World,” and “Father Groppi: Civil Rights Leader.” These two books have been donated to all junior and senior high schools, and public libraries in Portage County.
The title of his address will be “Singing for Our Lives: The Role of Music in Civil Rights Work.” In addition to Stotts, the Pacelli Concert Choir will perform.
