Rita M. Stanchik, age 84, of Stevens Point, died peacefully February 8, 2017 at Maple Ridge Memory Care in Plover.

Rita was born February 25, 1932 to Marvin & Verona “Vernie” (Strike) Dalsbo in Stevens Point, Wis. She grew up here, attended the local schools.

She was married to Daniel Malchow. He died on Feb. 6 1979. She married James Stanchik on July 16, 1982 in Stevens Point.

Rita worked as a dietician for numerous years at St. Michaels Hospital. From 1983 – 2013 along with husband, James Stanchik, they owned and operated Parkway Bar. They enjoyed meeting people and catered endless private events.

Rita was “Mother Nature”. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and caring for her many pets as well as the wildlife that would visit their property. Rita was an amazing, loving grandmother to 25 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Tavern League of WI and the American Legion Auxilliary.

She is survived by husband, James Stanchik of Stevens Point; daughters, Sandra Kedrowicz of Stevens Point, Susan (Joel) HugKuester of West Bend, and Mary Kay (Stuart) Austreng of Plover; sisters, Marie (John) Mallick and Dorothy Lodzinski; 25 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ken Dalsbo; and first husband, Daniel Malchow.

A private family gathering will be held.
