The Stevens Point Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is holding its 2nd annual open house on March 2.

The open house will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM in the Community Engagement Room, Room 634, at the downtown location of Mid-State.

BPAC will be joined by Michelle Bachaus, a Share & Be Aware Ambassador from the Wisconsin Bike Federation, who will share her experiences on the road and provide insight and education related to bicycling. The members of BPAC will also outline their goals and objectives for the year, which includes trying to upgrade the city’s bicycle-friendly status from bronze to silver–a higher community designation for the League of American Bicyclists.

Community input and feedback is encouraged during the open house.

“Citizens will further engage in the conversation and assist BPAC through volunteering to take on walking and bicycling initiatives in Stevens Point,” a news release from BPAC reads in part.

The event includes a safety presentation from the Stevens Point Police Dept., a bike show, bicycle licensing and free snacks and beverages. The night will be capped with a prize drawing for an urban 7-speed 2016 Fuji Sagres, courtesy of UWSP Adventure Tours. Must be present to win.

Mid-State Technical College is located at 1001 Centerpoint Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
