Sisters discontinue home health care services

The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis (SSJ-TOSF) are closing down its home health care services and collaborating with Willow Brooke Senior Living in Stevens Point to provide assisted living care for the Sisters who need it.

Of the approximately 40 Sisters who live in the Motherhouse, 1300 Maria Drive, Stevens Point, the decision impacts about a dozen. Skilled nursing care services for Sisters are being provided at Portage County Health Care Center.

“We are too small to continue,” said Sister Michelle Wronkowski. “We are aging and our numbers are declining so we had to do this. We knew this was coming for some time.

“Willow Brooke is rebuilding and we talked about how we could help their mission and how they could help ours and it matched really well … We’re really excited.”
