Barbara A. Bugar, 84, Wisconsin Rapids, sister of a Junction City woman, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017.

Services will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, with the Rev. John Swing officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled at Herman-Taylor Life Celebration Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, with a rosary service at 7 p.m., and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the services.

Mrs. Bugar was born April 2, 1932, in Evanston, Ill., a
daughter of the late Archibald and Olivette “Edna” Lawrence. She lived in the
Chicago area until the age of 19.

In 1951, she moved to Sigel and worked at her parents’
tavern.

She was married to Lawrence L. Brostowitz Sr. Feb. 20, 1952.
He died Sept. 4, 1972.

After his death, she graduated May 13, 1973, from the University
of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) with a teaching degree and was the first “mother
of 11 children” to graduate from UWSP.

She taught and served as principal for 31 years: four years
at St. Anthony in Loyal, 14 years at St. Mary in Greenwood, three years at
Sacred Heart in Nekoosa, and six years at Holy Rosary in Medford. In 1991, she
attained a master’s degree in education from UWSP.

She was married to Paul R. Bugar Sr. May 4, 1974. He died in
a traffic accident March 3, 2007.

Survivors include one sister, Karen (Richard) Cherney, Junction
City; 11 children, Lawrence (Lois) Brostowitz Jr., Barbara Ann (Chris) Kluck,
Joanne (Bill) LaBarge, Peter (Denise) Brostowitz, Leonard (Vicki) Brostowitz,
Mark (Sue) Brostowitz, Roxanne Miller, Suzanne (Dennis) Ebert, Paul Brostowitz,
Diane (Rick) Brussow and Polly Ann Thomas; three stepchildren, Mary (Dean)
Hoesly, Paul J. Bugar Jr. and Susann (Wayne Scheel) Bugar; 25 grandchildren;
and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma.
