Stella A. Broten, 91, of Stevens Point, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital.

She was born on July 18, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Frank and Susan (Polak) Majka. On July 3, 1948, her marriage to Raymond Broten took place at Stanislaus Catholic Church. Raymond died on March 2, 2004.

Stella had worked at Weber’s Tackle for many years before retiring. She enjoyed farming, gardening, sewing, canning, traveling and spending time with her family – she especially loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Elaine Broton of Plover, Larry Broton of Stevens Point, Christine Broton of Stevens Point, Barbara Broton of Plover, Dorothy Broton of California, Dennis (Jo) Broton of Wisconsin Rapids, Jeff Broton of Stevens Point, Nancy DeMeyer of Plover, and Randy Broton of Wisconsin Rapids. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was preceded in death by her son Gary.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Holy Spirit Parish, 838 Fremont Street in Stevens Point. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
