CWC-8 Champion Amherst girls basketball team set for postseason

After winning 17 games in a row to claim a share of its
second consecutive Central Wisconsin Conference-8 (CWC-8) Title this season,
the Amherst High School girls basketball team is set
to open the WIAA Division 3 Playoffs this weekend.
The Falcons (21-1, 13-1) received the second seed in the top
half of their Sectional and will host seventh-seeded Northland Pines (16-7) in
a Regional Semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, with the winner to take on either third-seeded Peshtigo (19-3)
or sixth-seeded Appleton Xavier (9-13) in the Regional Final Saturday, Feb. 25.
“We’ve had different people that have scored, and I just
believe we’ve gotten better every day in practice and in every game,” said
Amherst girls basketball head coach Gregg Jensen. “We’re learning and they’re
understanding things a little bit better, and it was a very good job of
finishing the regular season 21-1.”
