WIAA Boys Basketball pairings announced

This week the WIAA released brackets for the 2017 high
school boys basketball playoffs.

The sixth-ranked Stevens Point Area Senior High
School (SPASH) boys basketball team (17-4, 11-0) received the second seed in
its Division 1 Sectional and will host 15th-seeded Superior in a Regional Semifinal at
the SPASH Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3.

With a win, the Panthers would host either seventh-seeded Chippewa
Falls or 10th-seeded Eau Claire Memorial in the Regional Final Saturday, March
4. Top-ranked Oshkosh North received the top seed in the Sectional.

Pacelli Catholic High School (10-11, 6-7) received the sixth seed
in the bottom half of its Division 4 Sectional and will host 11th-seeded Manawa
in a WIAA Division 4 Regional Quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, with the
winner to play at third-seeded Manitowoc Roncalli in a Regional Semifinal at 7
p.m. Friday, March. 3.

Amherst High School (17-4, 11-2) received
the fifth seed in the top half of its Division 3 Sectional and will play at
fourth-seeded Freedom in a Regional Semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3. The
winner will play at second-ranked and top-seeded Appleton Xavier or host
eighth-seeded Fox Valley Lutheran or ninth-seeded Tomahawk in a Regional Final
Saturday, March 4.

Rosholt High School (12-9, 10-7) received the eighth seed in the
top half of its WIAA Division 5 Sectional and will host ninth-seeded Wisconsin
Valley Lutheran in a Regional Quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28. The
winner will play at top-ranked and top-seeded Marshfield Columbus or host
16th-seeded Bowler in a Regional Semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3.

The eighth-ranked Almond-Bancroft High School boys basketball team
(19-2, 16-1) received the second seed in the top half of its WIAA Division 5
Sectional and will host 15th-seeded Northland Lutheran in a Regional
Quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28. With a win, Almond would host either
seventh-seeded Port Edwards or 10th-seeded Tri-County in a Regional Semifinal
at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3.

Top-ranked Marshfield Columbus received the top-seed in Almond’s
half of the Sectional, while Gresham is the top seed in the bottom half of the
Sectional, which also includes sixth-seeded and reigning Division 5 State
Semifinalist Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran.
