Call for Artists to Paint Point Brewery Mural

City Times Staff
An open call for mural artists is now underway to help celebrate the Point Brewery’s 160th birthday.
The Stevens Point Brewery, in partnership with CREATE Portage County, has announced it plans to celebrate the company’s anniversary with a public art piece in the Downtown District.
The original mural is planned for installation on the west-facing wall of Galaxy Comics, Games & More, 925 Clark Street.
Artists and designers of all forms are encouraged to apply, but specifically those who work in murals, public art and mosaic.
“This project is designed to commemorate our rich 160 years of exceptional beverage-making in Stevens Point,” CREATE’s new release read in part. “We are also eager to contribute to the place-making goals of the growing downtown mural collection and thus encourage artists to envision contemporary public art that will draw people to the downtown.”
According to the release, artistic proposals should focus on the “story of the brewery and its impact on the Stevens Point Area”.
Initial applications are due by 5 PM on Friday, April 7, 2017 and should be emailed to [email protected].
