Paul L. Johnson Jr.

Paul L. Johnson Jr., 86, Wisconsin Rapids, father of a Stevens Point woman, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Arborwood Lodge in Wisconsin Rapids.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Monday, March 6, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Jim Altman officiating. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the service.
A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.

Mr. Johnson was born April 14, 1930, in Biron, a son of the late
Paul L. and Pearl G. (Brewster) Johnson. He graduated from Lincoln High School
in Wisconsin Rapids.
He was married to Verna Mae Leege Oct. 7, 1950, at S.S.
Peter and Paul in Wisconsin Rapids. She preceded him in death.
He worked as a machine tender on the No. 4 paper machine for
Consolidated Papers for 42 years, retiring on July 31, 1992.
He was actively involved in the village of Biron and served
on the Biron Village Board, Biron Fire Department, Biron Credit Union Board and
was a Union Steward for United Paperworkers International Union (UPIU) 187.
He belonged to the Consolidated and Bill’s Musky Clubs. He
helped stock muskies in local lakes and rivers as a member of the 12 Apostles
Musky Club.
Survivors include six sons, Charles Patrick (Jenny) Johnson,
Gillette, Wyo., Michael (Diane) Johnson, Mosinee, Mark (Melani) Johnson,
Nekoosa, and Kris (Rose) Johnson, Peter (Carlin) Johnson and Greg (Deanna)
Johnson, all of Wisconsin Rapids; four daughters, Paula (Mike) Klegin,
Greenville, Joni Johnson-Cherney, Stevens Point, and Colleen (Jerry) Klonowski and
Jeni Johnson, both of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother, Wayne Johnson, Nekoosa;
one sister, Judy (Larry) Stelzer, Wisconsin Rapids; many grandchildren; many
great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother Arlyn; and one sister,
Ardis Kohnen.
