Gayhard H. Elkins
Gayhard H. Elkins, 90, Waupaca, formerly of Amherst, passed
away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at
Crossroads Care Center of Crystal River in Waupaca.
He was born June 8, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., son of Homer and
Bessie (Hansen) Elkins. On Oct. 11, 1952, Gayhard married Rita Lloyd in the town
of Buena Vista.
He will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and
friends.
Gayhard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita Elkins,
Waupaca; three children, David (Sharon) Elkins, Omaha, Neb., Donna (Joseph)
Turrubiates, Waupaca, and Randy (Shelly) Stone, Appleton; six grandchildren,
Shawn (Chris) Elkins, Ty Turrubiates, Joey (Tara) Turrubiates, Shane (Leesa) Elkins,
Tracy (Jeremy) Schoenecker, and Jaci Stone; 12 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Juanita Martin, Chesterfield, Mo., and
Lucille Schmidt, Ogdensburg; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. He
is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Bessie
Elkins; two brothers, Cecil Elkins and Lloyd Elkins; four brothers-in-law; and
three sisters-in-law.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 18, at 11
a.m. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst. Rev. Dwight Anderson will
officiate.
A visitation will be held Friday evening, March 17, from 4
to 8 p.m. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home and again Saturday morning from 10
to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst
following the service on Saturday. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is
assisting the family with arrangements.
