Joseph A. Meshak, 73

Joseph A. Meshak, age 73, of Stevens Point, died Feb. 27, 2017 while on vacation in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Joe was born July 3, 1943 to the late Frank Sr. & Johanna (Kranski) Meshak in Stevens Point, Wis. He grew up here, attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Grade School and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1962.
Joe was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 20, 1965. He was stationed in Germany before returning to the states. During his time of service he received a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Sharpshooter Commendation. He was honorably discharged on March 31, 1967.
He lovingly married Germaine Feist at St. Peters Catholic Church on August 30, 1969.
Joe was employed at Consolidated Papers as a mill service worker. He dedicated 39+ years to the mill until retiring in 2001.
Joe will be remembered for his happy go lucky personality and his big heart. He enjoyed the fellowship of others and energizing conversation. At times, he loved expressing his sense of humor and being a jokester. Joe’s caring and loving nature was embodied in how he lived his life. He always maintained a positive outlook and could find the good in any situation. Joe enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii, going out to eat, shopping, camping, and working for Feist Construction following his retirement.
Joe was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Plainfield. Wis. He served the parish as a sacristan, acolyte, and usher. You would often find him volunteering as a greeter at the local hospital. Joe was a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way and Central Wisconsin Credit Union. He was also a member of the Elk’s Club and the American Legion.
He is survived by wife, Germaine of Stevens Point; a sister; numerous nieces and nephews; and additional loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Wed., March 15, 2017 at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Stevens Point, Wis. A time of visitation will be held at Boston Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 PM until 7:30 PM and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass. Burial with full military honors will be held in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Germaine would like to express a special thanks to all the care Joe received from relatives; especially his nephews, Jeff and Jim Feist.
