Helen Sophie (Schulist) Rozumalski, Plover, died early
Sunday evening, March 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at Maple Ridge
Assisted Living Center in Plover while under the care of Ministry Home Care
Hospice.
Age 95, Helen was born May 5, 1921, in the town of Sharon.
She was the daughter of the late Peter and Otylia (Brychell) Schulist. She
attended local schools before moving to Milwaukee for work, where she met and
married the love of her life, Frank Rozumalski.
After their marriage, she then moved to Plainfield to live
with her parents while Frank finished his tour of duty during WWII. When Frank
came home, they moved to Stevens Point area and raised their family. She also
worked at Weber Tackle Co. and as the bookkeeper for Plover Standard Service,
which she and Frank owned from 1965 until retirement in 1984.
In her later years, Helen was a crossing guard for many
years at Plover’s Roosevelt school and at a Day Care.
Helen was an excellent cook and baker, she enjoyed knitting
and reading. She was a past member of the St. Anne’s Society of St. Joseph’s
Church, member of the Catholic Family Movement, a past member of the
Plover-Whiting Lioness Club and member of St. Bronislava Catholic Church.
Helen is survived by her eight sons, William (Sharon),
Deacon Richard (Vicky), both of Stevens Point, Rev. Michael (Rev. Linda), Luck,
Gary (Karen), Bancroft, Brian (Marjie), Hazlehurst, Karl (Nancie), DePere, Fred
(Lakmal), Minneapolis, Minn., and Keven (Renee) Meyer, Spearfish, S.D.; and one
daughter, Mary Jane (Joe) Duberstein, Iola.
Further survived by 19 grandchildren, Chris, Todd, Nick,
Adam, Peter, Maren, Jan, Laura, Jason, Dan, Phil and Ian Rozumalski, Alex Nuttall,
Becky Bogaczyk, Renee Faust, Sara Pallen, Anna Backhaus, Ellie Schemm and Emily
DeBoer; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also, her
five sisters, Laura Kernats, Bernice Esker, Rita Borski, Gert Treutel and Pat
Raczek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and her
siblings, Martin, Mike and Ray Schulist, Gen Zigan, Theresa Rutkowski and
Lillian Osowski.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, at St.
Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. Ed Shuttleworth and her son, Deacon Richard
Rozumalski, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Family
and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Pisarski
Community Funeral Home in Plover, and from 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bronislava
Church until the time for mass.
