Reid Myron Rocheleau, 71

Reid Myron Rocheleau, age 71, a Portage County resident for the past 52 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, after a long and private battle with cancer.

Reid was born on February 9, 1946 in Two Rivers, Wis., son of the late Myron and Valerie (Zuehl) Rocheleau. He was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School with the class of 1964 and also graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.

In 1968 he spent a year backpacking solo around the world. Reid had a lifetime career of purchasing, remodeling and renting residential properties. He was a truck driver for Asphalt Products from 1970 – 1990. Reid also drove a school bus for Midstate Transit from 1967 – 1982.

For 30 years he was a very active and frequent participant in Stevens Point city government meetings and was a frequent Stevens Point Journal open letter contributor. He enjoyed hunting, road trips and following current events. He was known for his quick wit, engaging personality, conservative lifestyle and firm convictions.

Survivors include one daughter: Brittany Nass Bitto; one granddaughter: Dylan Bitto, both of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters: Andrea Koehler and Laurie Stahl, both of Two Rivers; one brother: Dennis Rocheleau, of Waupaca. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and faithful dog Cody. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law: Robert Koehler.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, 1420 22nd Street, Two Rivers. Burial will take place at Pioneers Rest Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at at Rhody’s Middletown Tavern & Grille, 2301 Church Street, Stevens Point, Wis. The celebration will be held from 11 AM until 2 PM, with a memorial service to be held at 11:30 AM. This is open to anyone who knew Reid and would like to join in remembering him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portage County Historical Society.

The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
