Panthers will play for third consecutive State Title

The Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) boys
basketball team will look to become the fourth team in the 102-year history of
the WIAA State Tournament to win three consecutive State Titles in the top
division, when it competes in the State Tournament at the Kohl Center in
Madison Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18.
The sixth-ranked Panthers (22-4) will take on seventh-ranked
Madison Memorial (23-3) in a State Semifinal at 6:35 p.m. Friday, with the
winner to face either second-ranked Brookfield Central (24-2) or Hartland
Arrowhead (21-5) in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship Game at 8:15 p.m.
Saturday.
“We’re going to take it one game at a time, first game
first, and then we’re going to try to make it to a second one,” said senior
guard Beau Rosenthal. “We’ve just got to keep playing how we are, keep sharing
the ball, playing tough defense and being gritty.”
