Sister Barbara Stoltz
In her 60th year as a sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis, Sister Barbara Stoltz, 84, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Willow Brooke Point Senior Living Center in Stevens Point.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Motherhouse Chapel, 1300 Maria Drive, Stevens Point, and will begin with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday April 5. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Todd Mlsna officiating. Burial will follow in the convent cemetery.
A native of Stevens Point, the former Othelia Stoltz was
born March 2, 1933, to the late Emil and Susan (Wanta) Stoltz.
She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in the class of 1953.
She was received into Novitiate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order
of St. Francis Aug. 10, 1957, and pronounced perpetual vows Aug. 10, 1964.
A dedicated homemaker, Barbara served in parish convents in
Wausau, Milwaukee, Arcadia, Rosholt and at St. Peter Convent and St. Joseph
Motherhouse in Stevens Point. While serving in parish convents she welcomed
opportunities to volunteer as a teacher’s aide or as a tutor in the parish
school.
In 1988, Barbara was hired as a homemaker at Keen Agers, a
self-care residential home for seniors in Appleton and Oshkosh. She enjoyed
that ministry until 1997 when she retired at the Motherhouse where she offered
supportive services.
She is survived by her sister, Ss. Mary Ann Stoltz; brother,
Raymond (Mary Lou) Stoltz, Stevens Point; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters
of St. Joseph-TOSF. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John
Stoltz.
