Marion J. Chorney, age 82, died peacefully with her family by her side on March 31, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living in Stevens Point, Wis.

She was born March 1, 1935 to the late Francis and Marion (Messner) McClatchey in Buffalo, New York. She grew up there, attended the local grade schools, and graduated from high school.

Marion married Bill Chorney in 1955. As Bill moved through the corporate ranks of Sentry Insurance for the next 33 years, the couple raised their three children with multiple residencies that include: New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Louisiana, and eventually Waunakee, and Stevens Point, Wis. After Bill’s retirement, Marion and Bill enjoyed the splendor of traveling to Europe twice and many extended trips to Scottsdale, Ariz. No matter where they settled, Marion naturally made new friends quickly and she always found a way to include everyone in her broad social circle.

Marion’s life revolved around her children, and their families. She relished an unrelenting joy from selflessly providing meals, laughs, comfort, encouragement, challenges, and tender moments for all. -Nobody did more for their family in a lifetime than Marion, whose devotion was always to her loved ones and her countless friends. Her infectious enthusiasm and warm smile lit up every room wherever she went; and she went everywhere.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill Chorney; children, Marilynn (Mark) Walker and Tom (Doneta) Chorney; grandchildren, Kelly (Dan) Springer, Kerstin (Scott) Vest, Lindsey (Jake) Gotta, Tilly Chorney, Shelby Chorney, and Bailey Chorney; great grandchildren, Ayden and Ava Vest, Natalie Springer, and identical twins, James and Fletcher Gotta. She is also survived by her brother, Jack (Sue) McClatchey.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Chorney; and grandson, Brad Rogers.

A time of Visitation and Sharing of Memories will be from 5 PM to 7 PM at Boston Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017; and will conclude with a prayer service at 7 PM. Interment will take place at a later date in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Online condolences may be made to www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
