Ethel Ann Kabachinski, 85

Ethel Ann Kabachinski, 85, of Stevens Point, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Portage County Health Care Center.

She was born on July 29, 1931, the daughter of the late Nick and Helen (Eiden) Kabachinski, and was a 1945 graduate of St. Stephen Elementary School and a 1949 graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School. She was a member of her high school Class Reunion Committees.

Following graduation, Ethel was employed with Hardware Mutual (Sentry Insurance) in the Wisconsin District Credit Division. Several years later, she was promoted to supervisor. In the 1950s, she spent time assisting with training in Santa Barbara, Chicago and Minneapolis District Offices.

In 1958, she transferred to the Data Processing Center as supervisor of the day and evening crews. In 1963, she transferred to the Home Office Treaty Reinsurance Dept. as a senior reinsurance technician, which involved foreign and domestic accounts. Her career covered 38 years and she retired 1987.

Ethel was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Wilderness Society, Cousteau Society, National Wildlife Federation, Wisc. Public Television, UWSP Foundation, Portage County Humane Society, and she supported numerous other charities and organizations. She enjoyed the theatre and the arts and supported UWSP Community Theatre and Concert Series.

Survivors include two sisters, Lorraine Schultz and Eleanor Wimme both of Stevens Point; 19 nieces and nephews; and 22 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Schultz and Irene Eiden; and one niece, Carol Schultz.

The family thanks the staff at the Portage County Health Care Center and Ministry Hospice for their care of Ethel.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be assisting the family.
