Amherst High School students will present ‘The Music Man’

Amherst High School students involved in the music department will present “The Music Man” musical for its spring performance.

The event will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 27-29, with a 2:30 p.m. performance Sunday, April 30. All shows will be held in the Lettie Jensen Community Center, 487 Main St., Amherst.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and senior citizens, $8 for children/students ages 5 to 18, and children 4 years old and under will be free on adult’s lap. Checks can be written out to the “Amherst Music Department.” Tickets can be purchased at the Amherst High School office.

Taking place in July of 1912, the charming conman Harold Hill (played by Seth Barnes) rolls into River City, Iowa, for his latest scam, a boys band! He then meets the feisty and independent librarian, Marian Paroo (played by Lily Zabler), who is quick to see through his deception.

Will Harold be able to finish the scam? Does he get handed over to the mayor? River City’s got trouble my friend, trouble with a capital “T.”
