SPASH girls track claims third consecutive WVC Indoor Title

With eight of its 13 State Qualifiers back from a year ago,
the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) girls track team used its
depth to help win its third straight Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC) Indoor
Title Tuesday, April 11.
Senior Sam Danczyk (shot put), sophomore Grace Belson (1,600
run) and the 4×800 relay team each won events to lead the Panthers, who finished
with 150 points to win the WVC Indoor Title over D.C. Everest (110) and Wausau
West (103) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) Multi-Activity
Center.
“It’s an awesome feeling,” said SPASH girls track co-head
coach Nate Olson, who shares head coaching duties with his father Mike. “The
conference is really getting a lot stronger than it’s been in the last couple
of years, Rapids has got some studs, Everest is really improving in the
distance and Wausau West is always tough.
“So it’s good to come out on top and be rewarded for all of
the hard work that the girls have put in over the off-season,” he said.
