Bernita M. Bjornstad

Bernita M. Bjornstad, 95, died Tuesday, April 11, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover.
Bernita was born Sept. 18, 1921, to the late Wilbert and Meta (Thielke) Westphal in Middleton.
She attended Gammon Grade School, and graduated from Middleton High School in 1939.
She married Lawrence A. Goth Nov. 25, 1943, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Middleton. He preceded her in death Aug. 1, 1969.
Bernita married Morris E. Bjornstad Aug. 21, 1971. He died Jan. 16, 2005.
Bernita worked for Harold Whipperman Accounting as a Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1975.
Bernita will be remembered for her love of family and independent nature. She valued her ability to remain active physically and mentally. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, archery, golf and dancing. Bernita also enjoyed needlework (especially quilting and knitting) and the tranquility of reading. She savored the challenge associated with solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She treasured her family and entertaining at her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Edward) Gerbitz, Junction City; son, Douglas (Patricia) Goth, Cape Coral, Fla.; granddaughter, Laura (Brad) Przybelski, Junction City; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Megan and Matthew Przybelski; brother, Gerald (Debbie) Westphal, Sauk City; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sister, Marion (Norm) Denner; and brother, Arleigh (Iris) Westphal.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 20, at St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Middleton. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be held in Middleton Junction Cemetery.
