John M. Kampschoer

John M. Kampschoer, 97, Stevens Point, died peacefully Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
John was born March 10, 1920, to the late John and Mary (Phillips) Kampschoer in Stevens Point.
He attended the rural, John F. Sims School through eighth grade, graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1939 and attended vocational school.
He was inducted into U.S. Army Air Corps Dec. 16, 1941. John held the rank of staff sergeant and served as a crew chief. He received an American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal World War II. He was honorably discharged Dec. 7, 1945.
Following his service to our country, he attended the UW-Madison for two years.
John married Lucille A. Roshak June 28, 1952, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They were married for 65 years.
John owned a John Deere dealership and worked as a salesman in Agri-Business before he was a self-employed general contractor.
John will be remembered for designing, building or remodeling homes and businesses in central Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille (Roshak), Stevens Point; daughters, Mary Kampschoer, Stevens Point, and Naomi (Paul) Maczka, Glendale; grandchildren, Hannah Kampschoer, Stevens Point, J.J. Wood, Elm Grove, and Ben Wood, Glendale; his brother, Robert (Yuill) Kampschoer, Trenton, Mich.; and special friends, Yvonne, Lewis and David Christison, Stevens Point.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three siblings; and son-in-law, James D.M. Wood.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, at Holy Spirit Parish, 838 Fremont St., Stevens Point. A time of visitation will be held Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment with full military honors will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
