Teen Armed Robbery Suspects Return to Court in May

Police have taken two teenagers into custody for their suspected involvement in an Easter armed robbery.
David A. Schmies, 18, and 17-year-old Zachary S. Hendricks, both of Iola, were arrested on April 19.
The two, armed with a handgun and shotgun, are accused of robbing a Whiting Ave. apartment complex shortly before 10 PM on April 16.
The shotgun was discharged into the floor of the apartment during the course of the robbery, according to police. No one was injured.
Taken from the residence was an undisclosed amount of marijuana and $2,500 cash, comprised mostly of $20 bills, according to the police report.
Schmies already has a pending case involving possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He returns to court in that case on May 12.
Hendricks will be in court on May 8.
Both teens are being held in the Portage County Jail.
