Noon Optimist Club Honors Jefferson Student

For the City Times
As part of its ongoing youth appreciation project, the Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has honored Silas Brookins, as April’s Youth of the Month.
Brookins is a sixth grader at Jefferson Elementary School, and the son of Maria and Corey Brookins, Stevens Point.
Brookins was nominated by a teacher, his principal and fellow students because he is a true “optimist”.
“He looks for the best of every situation,” said Principal Molly Demrow. “Silas looks for the best of every situation. He encourages his peers in a positive way. He is a hard worker, who always tries to go above and beyond.”
The Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has been honoring local youngsters through Youth Appreciation for many years.
Youth Appreciation is the most popular program sponsored by clubs throughout Optimist International, with more than 2,000 clubs participating each year.
