Stevens Point firefighters have announced their first-ever black-tie charity dinner is open to the public.
In conjunction with UW-Stevens Point’s Phi Sigma Phi, a community service fraternity, the Local 484 Charitable Foundation — the charitable arm of the firefighter’s union — has scheduled the formal affair for Saturday, May 13.
The dinner will be held in the Alumni Room of the Lee Sherman Dreyfus University Center, 1015 Reserve St., beginning at 5 PM. The night includes a meal and entertainment for $35 per person.
Attendees can choose an entree of Jack Daniels turkey, flat steak or asparagus portobello pasta. Included with dinner is starch/vegetables, a dinner roll, salad and dessert and coffee or water. A cash bar will also be available.
The night also includes numerous raffle prizes, 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Miss Wisconsin is the featured guest speaker.
“All of the money stays local,” said Firefighter Jason Pettis, director of the Local 484 Charitable Foundation. He added the proceeds from the charity dinner will benefit a slew of local organizations, to include several youth sports teams — such as Stevens Point Fastpitch and a soccer team the Jensen Center in Amherst — as well as the Salvation Army Hope Center, Guns N’ Hoses, Portage Co. Dream Flight and Operation Warm, which buys new winter coats for local kids in need.
Pettis also said the public was encouraged to attend the special dinner.
Tickets can be purchased via U.S. Mail by sending $35 per person to: Phi Sigma Phi Kappa Chapter, 1015 Reserve St., Box 3, Stevens Point, Wis. 54481. Checks should be made out to “Phi Sigma Phi Kappa Chapter”.
