For the City Times

The second annual Charlie Awards were presented to Charles Fernandez Center (CFC) students at the April School Board Meeting.

Charles Fernandez believed that all students could learn at high levels regardless of who they were or where they came from. In that same spirit, staff at CFC, celebrate students who find success despite adversity.

Students receiving the Charlie Award have excellent attendance, exhibit model behaviors in the classroom, and all place their education in the highest regard.

“Simply stated,” said Jesse Jackson, CFC principal, “these resilient, compassionate and civil minded students would have made Charlie very proud.”
