Dorothy Mildred Kachur (Klamm), a former Nelsonville
resident, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, in Sanford, N.C.

Dorothy was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., the
youngest of five daughters born to August Jacob Klamm and Anna Clara Schultz.

During WWII, Dorothy served her country by joining the
Women’s Army Corps.

After the war, she married Neil Gordon Kachur July 10, 1948,
in Chicago. In 1953, they moved to Nelsonville. They had four children.

Dorothy was a bookkeeper for the Bartig & Alm Hardware
Store in Nelsonville for many years and then worked in the office for H.O.
Wolding Trucking Company.

In 1971, Dorothy and Neil divorced. Thereafter, Dorothy
lived for many years in Phoenix, Ariz., where she was active in the Disabled
American Veterans chapter, serving as treasurer, vice-commander and commander.
In 2007, Dorothy moved to Arvada, Co., and in 2014 she moved to Sanford, N.C.

Dorothy enjoyed dancing, bowling, reading books, playing
cards and bingo.

Dorothy is survived by her four children, Janet (Lee)
Geronime, Clyde, N.C., Dawn (Steve) Ehli, Sanford, N.C., Paul Kachur, Sioux
Falls, S.D., and Gail (Paul) Salazar, Aurora, Co; seven grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Dorothy was predeceased by Neil Kachur; four sisters; and
one granddaughter, Kathleen Cordell (1983-1984).

Graveside services will be held at a later date.
