A former Plover man has been sentenced to prison for child sex assault.
Judge Thomas Eagon on Thursday sentenced 31-year-old Daniel Mick to 15 years in state prison, followed by 10 years extended supervision.
Mick was convicted by a jury in March on one count of first-degree child sex assault and two counts of causing a child to view sexual activity.
According to court documents, Plover police were contacted by authorities in Dane Co., where Mick had since moved, in November of 2015 after Mick’s ex-wife came forward.
The woman told police the sexual abuse between Mick and a 6-year-old female family member began while they were living in the Village of Plover. The woman told police she and Mick divorced in part because of his “severe porn addiction”, according to the complaint.
According to the girl’s interview with police, on at least two occasions Mick forced the girl to watch pornographic videos, then engage in sexual activity with him.
Mick maintained his innocence throughout the trial, and has filed an appeal.
