Pacelli girls track second, boys fourth at Regional

The
Pacelli Catholic High School girls track team placed second and the boys were fourth the WIAA Division 3 Regional
at Tri-County Monday, May 22.
For the
girls, Grace Van Handel won the 400 dash, Brooke Schroeder won the discus, Karah
Kluck won the triple jump and Elizabeth Cisewski won the 800 run.
Grace
Engebretson, Jenelle Higgins, Van Handel and Christonna Shafranski also teamed
up to win the 4×400 relay for Pacelli, which totaled 120.5 points to finish second
behind Wild Rose (163.5) and ahead of Rosholt (110.5) and Iola-Scandinavia (82).
Schroeder
(high jump), Cisewski (1,600 run), and the 4×100 relay team (Higgins,
Schroeder, Shannon Leary and Laura Mitch) placed second; Kluck (long jump) and
the 4×800 relay (Cisewski, Grace Van Handel, Grace Engebretson and Christonna
Shafranski) finished third; and Leary (100 hurdles) and Higgins (triple jump)
were fourth to also advance to Sectionals.
For the
boys, Luke Ferro won the high jump, while Jesse Vaughan, Cale Jakusz, Richard
Zupan and Alexander Schmitz combined to win the 4×100 relay, and Schmitz,
Andrew Blanker, Hayden Jurgella and Daniel Mitch teamed up to win the 4×400
relay.
Vaughan (100 dash) and the 4×200 relay team (Vaughan, Cale Jakusz,
Richard Zupan and Alexander Schmitz) finished second; Blanker (400 dash and
long jump), Jurgella (triple jump) and Alex Larson (shot put) were third; and Ben
Lundgren (300 hurdles) and Mitch (long jump) took fourth to also advance to
Sectionals, while Wild
Rose totaled 159 points to win the meet over the Rosholt (115), Pittsville (92)
and Pacelli (86).
The boys and girls teams will be
back in action at the WIAA Division 3 Sectional at Rosholt at 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 25, where the top four finishers in each event will advance to
the WIAA Division 3 State Meet at UW-La Crosse Friday and Saturday, June 2-3.
