SPASH baseball team on roll heading into playoffs

Following
a 1-7 start to this season, the Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH)
baseball team has battled back to put itself in contention for the Wisconsin Valley
Conference (WVC) Title.
The
Panthers won 13-0 over Wausau East in five innings at Memorial Park in Plover Tuesday,
May 23, for their ninth win in the last 10 games, and trail eighth-ranked
Wausau West (10-1) by one game heading into the conference finale.
SPASH
(13-11, 9-2) is set to close out the conference season at Wausau East at 5 p.m.
Thursday, May 25, and received an opening-round bye for the WIAA Division 1
Playoffs, as the fourth-seeded Panthers will host either fifth-seeded River
Falls or 12th-seeded Merrill in a Regional Final at Bukolt Park at 5 p.m.
Thursday, June 1.
“I
don’t know whether to be extremely happy about our last 10, 12 games, or still
extremely frustrated with our first eight,” said SPASH baseball head coach
Kraig Terpstra. “I firmly believe our true team is what we’ve seen the last
couple weeks.”
