The Stevens Point Area Senior High
School (SPASH) and Pacelli Catholic
High School softball teams both won
in Sectional Finals Thursday, June 1, to advance to the WIAA State Tournament
at Goodman Diamond in Madison
Thursday through Saturday, June 8-10.

Ninth-ranked Pacelli trailed sixth-ranked
Cochrane-Fountain City 3-2 in
the bottom of the sixth inning at Tri-County High School in Plainfield Thursday
night, when the Cardinals rallied for five runs to take an 8-3 lead, and went
on to an 8-6 victory to earn a trip to the WIAA Division 4 State Semifinals.

Eighth-ranked SPASH came back from
a 4-1 deficit against 11th-ranked Chippewa Falls in a Division 1 Sectional
Final at Chippewa Falls Thursday night, as the Panthers used a solo home run
from Aubrey Drohner, a RBI double from Sam Saloun, a RBI single from Becky
Kurzsewski and a squeeze bunt from Kayla Lass to rally for four runs in the
bottom of the fourth inning to provide the difference in a 5-4 win.

SPASH (23-6) is scheduled to face 10th-ranked
Sun Prairie (23-3) in a Division 1 State Quarterfinal at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8.

Pacelli (19-8) is scheduled to play
eighth-ranked Shiocton (21-7) in a Division 4 State Quarterfinal at 8 a.m.
Friday, June 9.
