Letter: Climate Policy Benefits All

To the Editor-
Whether a conservative, liberal or in the middle, we can agree taking care of our environment is in the best interest of everyone we care about.
Can we agree on how to fix climate change before it’s too late? Yes.
There are people across the entire political spectrum who independently developed the same strategy to address climate change. The nonpartisan Citizens Climate Lobby calls it, “carbon fee and dividend”; the conservative Climate Change Leadership Council calls it “carbon dividends”. Both groups had their policy analyzed by independent organizations.
Citizens Climate Lobby used Regional Economics Models Inc.; Climate Leadership Council used the U.S. Treasury Department.
The results of both analyses were that this strategy would have strong positive effects on the nation’s health, economic prosperity, and greatly reduce carbon emissions.
It only takes 13 minutes to understand how this strategy works. Go to YouTube [and] search for “TED Talks, Ted Halstead”. This strategy will become a U.S> policy only if we let our legislators in Washington [D.C.] know this is what we want.
It is easy to find their contact information using the Climate Lobby website, citizensclimatelobby.org.
