The Pacelli Catholic High
School softball team used a rally in
the bottom of the sixth inning to advance to the WIAA State Tournament for the
fifth time in seven years.

The ninth-ranked Cardinals
trailed sixth-ranked Cochrane-Fountain City 3-2 in the sixth inning in a
WIAA Division 4 Sectional Final at Tri-County High School in Plainfield
Thursday, June 1, when they erupted for six runs to take an 8-3 lead, and held
on for an 8-6 win to move on to state.

Pacelli (19-8) is set to face
Central Wisconsin Conference-8 (CWC-8) rival and eighth-ranked Shiocton (22-7)
in a WIAA Division 4 State Semifinal at 8 a.m. at Goodman Diamond
in Madison Friday, June 9, with the winner to play either second-ranked
Juda/Albany (25-2) or fifth-ranked Phillips(21-1) in the Division 4 State
Championship Game at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10.

“People said that we couldn’t
do it, and we just pushed, pushed and kept working harder,” said freshman
shortstop Madison Hintz. “It’s a great feeling.”

“It’s my dream to go to state
and play there,’” said senior pitcher Brook Nagorski. “Now we’re there, and
that’s awesome.”
